BEST OF MY LIFE

Chapter Six: Taste of Heaven

Normally, Josh would have turned his cellphone off during rehearsals, but he had hopes Kitty could manage a day or two with him in Orlando before she started her next film. It had been a long drought for him. He’d been apart from his wife for nearly five weeks this time and he had never felt so lonely. It was almost scary how he’d come to rely on seeing her face across the table at meals – or how he reached out for her in the middle of the night. More than one night he had jerked himself awake when he hadn’t found her beside him. No one could have told him how much he could miss the sound of her voice.

The instant his phone chimed, he snatched it up. “JC.”

“I’m sorry,” came a familiar teasing female voice, “I thought I was calling my husband.”

“Sweetness! Tell me you have good news.”

“Good and bad I’m afraid.”

“Give me the good first to soften the blow.”

“I do have time to spend with you.”

”That’s fantastic, baby!”

“C…” Justin called.

Josh waved him off.

“How does ten days sound?”

“Like freakin’ heaven, Kit. What’s the bad news?”

“I’m house-sitting. A friend of mine asked me to stay at her condo.”

“That’s bad?”

“Well, no. I just thought you might object.”

“For ten days with you, I’d sleep on a park bench.”

“C!” Justin became more insistent – and again Josh ignored him.

“A park bench wouldn’t give us much privacy,” Kitty mused.

“When can you get here?”

“I’m already here.”

“In Orlando?”

“Mmm…hmm.”

C!”

“Sweetness—“

“Dammit, JC!” Justin snatched the phone.

“Hey!”

“Look at the door already!”

Josh swung his eyes to the doorway of the dance studio. There stood Kitty, waggling her cellphone at him.

“Give me a minute,” Josh told the others as he headed towards his wife.

“Make it five,” Justin muttered.

Closing the door behind him them, Josh backed Kitty up against the corridor wall. This put an end to the long painful separation. It had been too long. Lowering his head, he captured her sweet mouth in a hungry, drugging kiss.

“Hey, sweetness,” he murmured in her ear before he nipped at it.

“Hey, blue-eyes.”

“This was too long, baby. I can’t be without you this long again. I’ll die if I do.”

“Josh, you knew it had to be this way,” she reminded him softly.

“Yeah, but I didn’t realize how much it’d hurt.”

“Then we made a mistake,” she said sadly. “I’ll contact a lawyer—“

“Hell, no!” he growled fiercely. “You’re mine, baby.”

“But if—“

”You’re mine,” he repeated. This kiss was gentle and soothing. “I’m sorry, sweetness. Nothing in this world could make me give you up. I’m just frustrated. I never knew I could miss someone so much.”

“You’re horny,” she teased.

He shook his head. “It’s more than that, Kit.” Then he decided to let it go. He grinned down at her. “Yeah, I’m horny – among other things.”

“Well, I’ll let you get back to work. I’ll leave the address of the condo—“

“Stay, Kit.”

“I’d only be in the way—“

“No, you wouldn’t.”

“You told how intense this is, how you need all your concentration.”

“Yeah, like I’ll concentrate with you across town.”

“Josh—“

“Please?”

“All right for a while. I’ll go pay the taxi.”

Kitty proved not to be a distraction. If anything, Josh was more focused, knowing when he fell into bed, exhausted from the workout, Kitty would be at his side.

Around seven that evening, the guys called it a night. Josh went to collect his wife, finding her curled up and asleep on a sofa. Trying not to awaken her, he lifted her in his arms. Poor baby! She’d flown across the entire country to be with. She was probably exhausted.

“Josh?” she murmured sleepily as she snuggled closer.

“Yeah, baby. Just relax. We’re heading home for the night.”

“The address—“

“Home, baby. My home.”

Immediately, she stiffened. No way would she sleep in any bed he had shared with another woman!

“I don’t have any clothes there,” she protested.

“Well, I don’t have any at the condo.”

“Put me down.”

“Kitty—“

“Put-me-down,” she demanded, squirming until he set her to her feet.

Flipping her cellphone open, she punched in a set of numbers. “I’d like a taxi, please. “I’m at—“

Josh snatched the phone, hitting ‘end’. “What in the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“Getting a ride to the condo.”

“Kitty, I—“

She held her hand out for her phone.

“I’ll take you,” he conceded, figuring she wasn’t going to give on the point. “But I gotta get some clothes from my place.”

Kitty put her arms around his waist to try and quell some of his irritation. “How is this for a plan? Drop me off at the condo. You go get your gear. I’ll have dinner ready when you get back.”

“Stir-fry?”

“Mmm…hmm…I went to the grocery earlier.”

“I’ll bring a bottle of wine.”

She reached up to trace his ear. “We can’t keep you up too late tonight. We’ll have to get to bed early.”

“I hope you aren’t planning to go to sleep too early. There are a coupla things I’ve gotta do to you tonight.”

“Such as?”

“You’ve got a good imagination.”

“Josh…” Kitty brushed her lips against his.

“Yeah, sweetness?” He groaned when her mouth stole his breath in a sexy, taunting kiss. “Keep that up and I’ll have to take you right here.”

“Not on Johnny’s sofa.”

“No. On Johnny’s floor.”

His wife was a wonder, Josh thought as he sunk into the bathtub large enough for a small party. Kitty had made him his favorite dinner, then ran a hot bath meant to sooth his tired body. Pressing a glass of wine in his hand as she switched off the lights, leaving the room dimly lit with candles, adding to the relaxing ambiance. All that was missing from this scenario was Kitty.

At first, he had balked at the idea of staying here instead of at his house, but he rapidly changed his mind. Since Kitty was giving him ten days of her rare free time, he wanted to make her happy. She was certainly doing her best to please him.

Then another thought struck him – he still hadn’t made love to her yet. Wasn’t that some sort of record for them? Since she had been introduced to physical love, Kitty had been a willing, eager pupil – in fact, she was teaching him a thing or two!

“How’re you feeling, baby?” came Kitty’s soft voice.

“Like a lucky husband.” He reached out a hand for her.

Instead of taking his hand, she sat on the edge of the tub behind him to knead his tight shoulders.

“Mmm…sweetness…you are so good to me.”

“I like doing things for you.”

“You spoil me.”

“I just hope it makes up for the times I can’t be with you.”

Did it? He wondered. It certainly did help. “When do I get to spoil you?”

“You spoil me by just being you, Josh.”

No one else had ever said that to him. Usually being who he was wasn’t enough. “Then I feel like a slacker.”

“Don’t. You’re more than enough for me, blue-eyes.”

“C’mere, baby. I need to hold you.”

Kitty rose and slipped out of her silky wrapper. Sinking into the tub, she sat between his legs, her back to his chest.

“This is much better,” he said as he wrapped her arms around her.

“Better than a massage?”

“You are a wonderful masseuse, but this is one of the things I miss most when we’re apart. Just holding you.” He nuzzled her hair from her neck to kiss the soft flesh beneath her ear. “Nights are the worst. I miss holding you while we sleep.”

“I miss you the same way,” she confessed.

“Soulmates,” he murmured. “We’re soulmates.” Just like the engraving inside his wedding band.

Kitty laid her head back against his shoulder, pressing her face against his neck. He smelled wonderfully of Josh. Sweat from his hard workout and the remnants of his woodsy cologne. And despite the fact they had been apart more than together in their marriage, he hadn’t rushed her off to bed either time she had come to him. Instead, he’d been amazingly quiet and caring.

Of course, he had warned her preparing for a tour was grueling, actually harder than being on tour. Learning all the new routines, constant rehearsals. He had said some nights, he just fell into bed.

“Are you horribly tired?” she asked softly.

He wondered if she realized her little bit of British accent showed up when she was uncertain. “How tired is ‘horribly tired’, sweetness?”

She lifted her shoulders in a shrug.

“Will I sleep soundly tonight? Yeah. Let’s not forget to set an alarm.” He trailed his fingers down her thigh and back, eliciting a tiny gasp from her. “Am I too tired to make love to you? That’s never gonna happen.”

She flicker tongue along his jaw, taking in the salty taste of his skin. “If you’re too tired, I can make love to you instead,” she offered.

Would he survive that kind of wonderful torture? “Let’s say I am. How would you start?”

Changing her position, she straddled his thighs. “I’d give you some wine.” She took a sip from his glass. Instead of putting the goblet to his lips, she put her mouth to his, letting the wine trickle into his mouth. Her tongue teased his, letting him taste her.

Josh groaned. Damn, but she was good at this! “Then what?” he asked huskily.

“I’d bathe you.” More torture. Kitty soaped literally every inch of him from the neck down, paying special attention to his newly sprouted erection and his flat nipples. Once convinced he was thoroughly clean, she rinsed the lather away. “Well, now, I’d say it’s time to give some extra attention to Mr. Happy, but since only his head is poking out of the water…” She lightly ringed the tip of his manhood with a soft finger until Josh moaned, thrusting his hips up. “…I’d probably drowned.”

“So what would you do instead?”

“Oh…” She rose on her knees and kissed him lingeringly. “Probably something like this.” Lowering her body, she let him slide home.

“Oh, sweetness!” he gasped as she took him in. She was tight, hot and ready. “That’s my beautiful baby girl.” He encouraged her as she set a steady rhythm. “You are so good to me…”

Kitty put her hands on the edge of the tub behind his head to give herself more sure leverage. Lowering her mouth to his, her tongue imitated what his body was doing to hers, the wonderful thrusting invasion.

Josh put his hands on her hips, driving his hips up as he pulled hers down.

“Oh!” she cried out.

“Too much?”

“I can never get enough of you, lover,”

His hands moved to cup her face. “If I live to be a hundred, I won’t get enough of you. I love you, baby.” Their mouths mated as their bodies continued to slam together.

“Josh, I—“ Kitty lost her train of thought as he body grew taut in preparation for the explosion of rapture.

“Come on, sweetness,” Josh urged. “Let me see you fly.” He loved to watch her before he let go, something wild and wonderful took her over.

“Josh!” Kitty plunged down and broke apart.

He thrust up once more and followed her into ecstasy.

Gathering her close in the aftermath, Josh stroked her until her trembling abated. Kitty was so astonishingly bold she seemed to surprise herself with the end result. “You okay, sweetness?”

“I’m wonderful.”

“That you are,”

“Josh?”

“Yeah, Kit?”

“Are you still mad at me?”

“I was never really mad, kinda disappointed. No, if this is where we can be together, then I’m totally cool with it. You do realize we’ll probably have to buy your friend a new bed. We’ll wear this one out.”

She lifted her head to meet his laughing eyes. “We’ll go halfsies,” she replied impishly.

He chuckled, “Okay.”

Kitty rose and stepped out of the tub. “Where’re you going?” he demanded.

Securing a bath sheet around her, she reached for another one and shook it out. “Out of the water, big guy.”

Josh followed instructions, the allowed himself to be rubbed and patted dry. By the time she was finished, he sported a new erection.

“Hmm..I though I already took care of Mr. Happy,” she teased.

Tugging the bath sheet from her body, he replied, “You did. Now, he wants to take care of you.”

“Does he now?”

“Yep. You’re his best friend.” He scooped her up, preparing to head for bed.

“The candles!”

Moving around the room with her still in his arms, he blew the flames out. “The only thing that’s gonna be on fire, is us, sweetness.”

The bed was turned down and a single bedside lamp was on its dimmest setting.

“Somebody had plans,” he murmured as he lowered her to the mattress and followed her down.

“If you’re too tired—“

“I’d have to be six feet under to be too tired to make love to you, Kit.”

Stroking his hair back, she whispered, “I love you, blue-eyes.”

He smiled. “And I love you, sweetness.”

If the other guys had their taunts prepared for Josh, they were forced to keep them to themselves. Instead of being tired, he was alert and well-rested. Instead of being tight and sore from the previous day’s workout, he was loose and energized.

“Whatever that boy’s doing, you guys need to be doing,” their manager remarked as Josh moved easily through a routine.

“Having sex?” Joey grunted. “Kitty’s in town.”

“Well, whatever it is, it works.”

“So, whaddya do last night, C?” Justin asked.

“Kitty made dinner, the drew a bath for me. She gave me a massage and we went to bed. She was pretty tired from her trip.” He left out hot, sweet lovemaking a couple of times before they fell blissfully asleep in each other’s arms.

“Where’s she today?”

“She was still asleep when I left.” He shrugged. “She loves the beach and I don’t think she’s ever been in Orlando before. Maybe she’ll sightsee. She did talk about renting a car.”

“Domestic bliss seems to agree with you.”

Josh grinned. “It does. It really does.”

Kitty held a finger up to her lips as she crept into the room. The other guys had seen her come in, but Josh had his back to the door, deep in concentration. But just as she was about to pounce, Josh said, “Hey, sweetness. I didn’t expect to see you here today.”

The other four laughed at Kitty’s vexed expression.

“How did you?—“

“Know you were here?” Josh finished for her. “You smell like raspberries and you.”

“Darn.”

Josh looped a long arm around her waist and pulled her to his side. “Tomorrow we start at the arena. I’ll show you where it’s at tonight.”

“Beginning of hell week?” She recalled that’s what he called the most intense week when everything had to come together.”

“A little early for that. We’re gettin’ there.”

“So, how’re you likin’ Orlando, Kit?” Justin asked.

Kitty shrugged. “It has a lot to recommend it. The sun. Josh. The Disney World. Josh. Universal Studios. Josh. Not necessarily in that order.”

“Yeah, I’d definitely put Universal Studios first,” Chris joked and they all laughed.

“Can I steal Josh for a couple of minutes?” Kitty asked, receiving a round of affirmations.

Josh walked her out to her little rental car. “Does the rental company know what kind of driver you are?”

“All they know is that I have no record and I’ve never been in a accident.”

“I wonder how many you’ve caused.”

“Joshua! I didn’t come here so you could insult my driving.”

“So, why did you come, sweetness?”

“No reason. It just felt good to know if I wanted to see you, all I had to do was drive across town.”

He grabbed her waist and pulled her against him. “If I had the time and privacy, I’d show you how glad I am to see you, too.”

She could feel the hard imprint of him. “I think I can guess.”

“Can you? Give me a wall and a coupla minutes—“

“Shame on you!” Her cheek actually turned pink.

Josh shook his head, smiling at her embarrassment. “Sometimes, I forget that I’m the only man you’ve ever known. You’re so bold, I forget you’re also fairly innocent.”

Kitty noticed the four guys in the window watching them. “Guess you’d better kiss me to make our audience happy.”

“No, I’ll kiss you to make you happy.” Instead of a steamy, hungry kiss, Josh delivered a sweet, tender kiss.

“Mmm…that definitely falls into the happy category.”

“I’ll save the rest for later.”

“Know what time I should have dinner ready?”

“None. I’ll pick up Chinese on the way home. It’s not quite as good as Quon’s, but it’s pretty good.”

She smoothed his hair. “I hope you don’t work too late.”

“If I do, my wife will take good care of me. She’s good at that.”

Kitty smiled. “I like taking care of my husband.”

“It shows.” Josh brushed his mouth over hers. “Later, baby.”

“What I wanna know is how a guy who admits his favorite hobby is sleeping can work like you do and obviously keep Kitty happy and still walk around grinning,” Joey complained to Josh at lunch one afternoon.

“Actually, Kitty’s a napper, too.”

“You aren’t getting any naps.”

No, there was something about sharing yourself with the woman you love that was energizing. Josh shrugged. “It works for us. And we take care of each other. You know, I always thought I wouldn’t be able to sacrifice my wants for someone else. Now, I don’t even think about it. I just do it. Hearing Kitty call me ‘blue-eyes’ or ‘lover’, that’s all it takes. I’m there.”

Kitty was a beautiful woman, there was no denying that; but Joey had never been particularly attracted to her. She wasn’t his type. In fact, she was nothing like the women Josh had been with either. “She’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but what is it about her exactly?”

“We’re soulmates. We knew that from day one.”

“She refused to have anything to do with you,” Joey reminded him.

“Only because she thought I was trying to cheat on Robin with her. Once Robin wasn’t an issue, Kitty was all mine. We were already in each other’s hearts.” Josh smiled dreamily. Kitty had been ready to give it all over to him that first night; she was so positive Josh was the one. He had been the one who decided to wait. “I proposed to her that night. If we would have had the time, I would have flown her to Vegas, Reno, anywhere I could have made her mine.”

“Think when it starts that fast it’ll last?”

“I’m not saying it’s gonna be easy. But we’ll work at it. The biggest problem is the constant separations. It probably always will be, but we’ll work it out.” He had every intention of his wife being pregnant before the year was out, but Josh kept that to himself.

The door opened and just before soft arms came around his neck from behind, Josh knew Kitty had arrived. “Hey, sweetness.”

“Hey, blue-eyes.” Kitty rested her chin in his hair.

“What brings you here?”

“Joey called and said you were going to start hell week. He also told me that it’s a tradition you went out partying the night before.”

“Baby, we don’t need—“

“You and I have never been to a party together. What’s a partying Josh like?”

Joey answered. “Like the regular one. ‘Don’t drink too much.’, ‘Let’s not stay out too late.’. Oh, and the lamest pick up lines known to mankind.”

“I won’t be using those anymore,” Josh reminded him.

“I never got to hear them,” Kitty complained.

“I never got the chance. When we met, you were sittin’ on my crotch like a queen on her throne, knowing exactly what you were doin’ to me,” Josh snorted.

“You were so easy,” Kitty teased.

“If a girl was sittin’ on my crotch, I’d be easy, too!” Joey laughed.

“So, about this party—“

“Kit, we don’t need to go,” Josh told her.

“You don’t want to be seen with me?”

He pulled her around, onto his lap. “You’re my wife. Of course, I want to be seen with you. This is like single guy stuff—“

“Don’t tell me you get naughty!”

“JC? Are you joking?” Joey demanded. “The only reason he goes is to make sure we don’t get naughty.”

A faint blush colored Josh’s cheeks. “I’m kind of a boring guy, Kit.” Which amazed him Kitty loved him. Something she was not was boring.

“No, you aren’t,” she assured him huskily.

Josh melted at her sultry tone. “Do you really wanna go clubbin’ with five guys?”

She pretended to consider it. “Hmm…I would never lack for dance partners…five guys, no. Four guys and my husband, yes.”

Her argument was won. “Okay, sweetness.”

Giving him a hard kiss, she rose to her feet. “Guess I’d better go get ready for my date.”

Josh reluctantly released her, watching the sway of her hips as she moved away. Would he survive his sexy wife in club-mode? She was bold and hot enough as it was. Add the excitement of dancing, she was bound to sizzle.

“You weren’t gonna take her, were you?” Joey asked, amused at his friend’s helpless look.

“No, I hadn’t planned on it. It’s her last night in town.”

“She’ll probably have every guy there clamoring for her attention.”

“But she won’t notice.” He’d seen it before. When he and Kitty were together, he was the only man in her world. She didn’t seem to know how to make him jealous, thank God!

“That a problem?”

“No, it’s a blessing.” The problem was going to be the hard-on he was bound to be sporting most of the evening.

Kitty was dressed to make a strong man drool like a baby, Josh decided as he watched his wife put the finishing touches on her make-up. Her short, red skirt hugged her hips and caressed her thighs a good four inches from her knees. She wore a snug tank top of the same color. Strappy red sandals completed the outfit. When she raised her arms the top bared her mid-drift and he swallowed hard.

As Kitty capped her mascara, she noticed her husband’s worried expression. “Problems, blue-eye?”

He shook his head. Kitty was naturally sexy. It was something he couldn’t complain about. “I just wish we could wear our rings tonight.” So everyone would know this incredible woman was his.

“Josh—“

Holding a hand up, he said, “Sweetness, I know you’re all mine.”

“I won’t dance with anyone but you, if you want.”

“You can dance with the guys. They’ll treat you like a sister.” At least, they had better.

Kitty ran a fingertip along the low neckline of his wifebeater. “I may, but I really want to dance with you, lover.”

“Keep that up and you won’t make it out the door.”

She giggled. “You’re a bad boy.” She dropped her hand to his hip, encased in leather. “I don’t think you’re exactly legal in that outfit.” The dark leather pants and the black top made him look sexy and a little dangerous.

“Like you can talk.” Red was a color that screamed sex and power on her.

“Baby,” Kitty put her arms around his neck, “want me to wear my engagement ring tonight?”

“Would you?” he asked hopefully. It wasn’t full disclosure, but he was willing to compromise at the point. "Sweetness, if you would—“

Kitty kissed him softly. “I’ll take that as a ‘yes’,” she giggled. “Yes, I will. Let people take it from there. It’s not as if we already aren’t known as a couple since the talk show. You’ve had a public break from Robin for a couple of months now. It shouldn’t look bad for us to be together.”

“Thank you, baby.”

“I want to make you happy, Josh.”

“You do, Kit. Believe me, you do.” He kissed her, shoving his hands into her hair as he devoured her mouth. “Are you sure we need to go out tonight? We can stay here and I’ll make love to you all night.”

Kitty wanted to strip off his clothes and let him do the same for her. She was more than willing to do as he suggested. “You choose, blue-eyes,” she whispered breathlessly. “Stay here – or go out as a couple.”

He groaned. What an unfair decision! Making love all night or declaring themselves a real couple. “Sweetness, not fair.”

“You started it!” she laughed.

“We’ll go. I want the world to know I’m in love with you.”

“You don’t want the world to know I’m in love with you?”

“That, too.”

Kitty turned back to the mirror and slicked on red lip-gloss.

“That’s a waste,” Josh muttered. It would be long gone before they got to the club.

“Oh, no, you don’t, Joshua Scott!” she protested when he lowered his head, the intent to kiss her clear in his eyes. She ducked so his mouth met the side of her neck – in the very spot that made her knees weak.

Unfazed, he nibbled and licked until she sagged back against him.

“You are so bad,” she whispered.

“That’s a small deposit for later.”

“Then I expect a nice big pay-off.”

“You can count on it.”

“Like wow!” Justin ogled Kitty when the couple arrived late and slightly disheveled.

“I clean up nicely,” Kitty quipped.

“Nice don’t begin to cover it.”

Josh assisted Kitty in removing her jacket. “Can I get you a drink, sweetness?”

She shook her head. “I’m strictly a ‘water with a twist of lemon’ girl. I’m a light-weight. You know me, an occasional glass of wine.”

He knew exactly how she shared her wine, too. The thought made him sweat. Sliding off his jacket, he reached for her hand. “Wanna dance first?”

“I’d love to.”

“Hey, JC.” Chris pointed at the diamond on Kitty’s hand. He knew it meant Kitty was willing to be linked officially to Josh – and how happy that made his friend.

“Yeah.”

“Congratulations.”

“Thanks.

“C’mon, sweetness.”

Kitty danced like she made love, Josh discovered – with enthusiasm, abandon and great pleasure. One song was about how a woman made every man want her. He was pretty sure she had been the inspiration. Half a dozen men tried to get her attention. She disappointed every single one of them. With her husband, dancing was strictly a contact sport. Luckily the lighting was low enough, he wasn’t too obvious.

“Blue-eyes, the way everyone else is grinding into his or her partner a large percentage of the guys are having the same problem.” Kitty read her husband’s mind.

“Yeah, but I also bet a number of them are gonna go out to their cars and get it taken care of,” he muttered.

All teasing left her face. “I can do that for you, baby,” she offered.

He shook his head. “Thanks for the offer, sweetness, but with us it’s not about release. It’s about love.” Drawing her closer, he slid his hands under her top to rest on the silken flesh of her back. “Nobody’ll ever love you like I do – ever.”

“Josh…” Her lips were a mere inch from his.

“Yeah, Kit?”

“There’s no one else for me but you the rest of my life.”

He stopped moving, his eyes hot on hers. “Let’s go, sweetness. I can’t wait much longer to love you—“

“Oh, yes!”

Josh skimmed the newspaper article about the group’s tour preparation, how in a week the tour began.

“Last night, JC’s companion was none other than actress Kit Winston.” He read aloud to Kitty as they sat at the breakfast table. “It’s been no secret the couple has been dating since their appearance together on the Rosie show some months back. Ms. Winston wore what appeared to be an engagement ring on her left hand and the couple seemed lost in each other’s eyes for most of the night – and made a noticeably early exist from the club.

“The couple met while Ms. Winston was filming a movie with JC’s bandmate Joey. Is JC going to be the first relinquish his bachelor status before Justin?”

Kitty grinned at him when he lowered the paper. “Uh-huh.”

“Thanks, sweetness.”

“What are you thanking me for? I didn’t write it.”

”You know what for.” He rose from his chair, dropping the newspaper to the table. Kitty was leaving five hours. And who knew when they would be able to be together again? He didn’t want breakfast. He didn’t want to read the paper. What he wanted was to make love with Kitty until they dissolved into each other. That way they would never be apart. The heat in his eyes was unmistakable.

Kitty sighed and put her spoon down. “You aren’t gonna let me eat this, are you?” She indicated the grapefruit with only a few bites missing in front of her.

“No.”

“But this is good stuff,” she complained as he pulled her from her chair.

“I’ll have a whole damn plane load sent to you,” he promised roughly as he began backing her through the living room.

“That’d be a waste. I’d never get it all eaten.”

Josh reached for the hem of her shirt and pulled it off, leaving behind the sofa as they continued towards the bedroom.

Kitty reached for the drawstrings of the cotton pants, the only thing he wore to bed. Tugging until they loosened and fell to the carpet, she gave a satisfied smile as he stepped out of them, already fully aroused.

At the bedroom door, he shoved her boxers off her hips until they pooled at her ankles. He lifted her in his arms and bore her to the bed they had left less than an hour earlier.

Kitty was about to tease him when she saw the desperation in his eyes.

“Sweetness, this has been heaven, having you with me. How am I gonna survive without you?”

“Hush, baby…” she soothed. “We’re never so far apart. Not really.” She put his hand over her heart, then placed her hand over his heart. “Feel that? They beat the same. One heartbeat, one heart. No, we won’t be together bodily, but our hearts, our souls, our minds are never apart.”

Josh smiled. Kitty always seemed to know what to say. “Thank you, Kit.”

“No problem, blue-eyes.”

“Wanna go eat your grapefruit?”

Kitty shoved him to his back and straddled his thighs. “You strip me naked. Lay me on the bed with Mr. Happy poking me. And now you want to know if I want to finish my breakfast?” she demanded incredulously.

He tried to unsuccessfully hide a grin. “Well, yeah.”

“Well, the answer is ‘no’, buster. Since I’m out of the mood for grapefruit, you had better be offering something better!” Kitty moved down a little, then leaned forward to lick the hot length of him, making him groan with pleasure. “Mmm…This is what I’m in the mood for now.”

And was he ever glad!
