Family Chasez
“I win!” Chelsea crowed.
“Damn!” JC grumbled as his daughter beat him once more at Snowball.
“You so suck at this, Dad!” She laughed at his grim expression.
“I think you rig it,” he accused.
“Nope. You just suck!”
“I’m home!” Kristin entered the house and began her evening routine. Briefcase and handbag landed on the hallway credenza. Off came her business suit and shoes. She stepped in the family room to see her husband and daughter look up from the computer.
“Hey, baby.” JC’s eyes roved over her scantily clad body with great interest. She was still the sexiest woman alive, despite being six months pregnant. Maybe that even added to her glow.
“Hey, Mom. Your next husband has to be better at computer games,” Chelsea announced from her wheelchair. The girl had adjusted well to her altered life. Her high-spirit and positive attitude amazed both parents.
The accident had brought changes to all of them. Since Chelsea no longer danced, she agreed she could go to school anywhere and looked forward to college in the field of graphic design. Kristin had taken over the Orlando-Titusville branch of Breton and de Carlo-Chasez. JC had moved his family to his home base in Florida and made a commitment to being with them. Parties and appearances were limited as he spent most of his creative time working on a solo effort. With a pregnant wife, he didn’t want to be away.
Kristin went to where JC sat and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. “Sorry, Chels, you’ll have to make do with this dad. He’s the only one you’re getting.”
With an impish grin, Chelsea said, “Then I’ll keep clobbering him at Snowball!”
JC laughed. “Or maybe I’ll wise up and just quit playing!”
